Garrettsville Ohio Tractor Parade Attempts to Break World Record

In a corner of the world, tucked hidden away, lies the beautiful, rural town of Garrettsville. Located in Ohio’s northeast corner, Garrettsville is a combination of villagers, farm folks, and Amish. With its old-time buildings along with river (known as Silver Creek) and restaurant overlooking the waterfall, you will be almost certain that you have gone back in time.
Each year, the town closes down Main Street for 3 days of fun, food, music, contests and rides in a celebration of summer. This festival, known as Summerfest, has grown exponentially over the past few years. This year, Summerfest will be held from June 27th through June 29th.

To spice things up this year, Kathie Lutz from Century 21 Goldfire has decided to sponsor a “tractor parade” in an attempt to break the world record of the most consecutive tractors in a parade. The current record holder is 241 tractors.

In order to participate, you must register at Century 21 Goldfire’s office, located at 8028 State Street, Garrettsville, Ohio. Registration is $5.00 and will get you a T-shirt, your ticket to riding your tractor in the parade. Registration is taking place from June 1 through June 19.

Line up for the parade will take place across from the Garrettsville High School, located on State Route 88, beginning at 2:00 pm June 28th. The kickoff for the parade will be 3:00 pm.

There will be three trophies awarded, for the following:

1. The person/tractor who has come the farthest
2. Most Decorated Red, White, and Blue
3. Most Unique

It is sure to be a fun and exciting event, whether the record is broken or not! It is a sure bet that traveling to Garrettsville for Summerfest will be a good time for everyone. Fireworks will be held on Saturday night at 10:00 pm., and Garrettsville Idol (a spin-off of American Idol) will be held Sunday, June 29th from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, hosted by local television personalities Big Chuck and Lil’ John. Other events, such as the Rubber Ducky Races (over the falls!), Canoe Races, Homemade Pie Contest, Hamburger Eating Contest, Car Raffle, will provide endless entertainment!
